Job Description:
Microsoft SharePoint Engineer Description of Services The Engineering Department, Operations Division Engineering Records and Document Management Unit (ERDM) is responsible for all aspects of departmental document processing, publishing, and management.
It ensures engineering document integrity, standardization, and compliance through recordkeeping protocols, industry best practices, and integration of emerging technologies.
Within ERDM, the Engineering Library group oversees the creation, maintenance, governance, and dissemination of technical documentation, engineering standards, and internal knowledge resources.
The ERDM Unit is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a hybrid on-site/off-site Microsoft SharePoint Engineer position.
The consultant will serve as a SharePoint SME and be responsible for the architecture, design, and ongoing development of the department's intranet and internal SharePoint-based tools, including EOL (Engineering Online).
The position requires advanced skills in SharePoint site and content architecture, front-end design, user experience (UX/UI), and governance.
Knowledge of Power Platform tools-Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI-is desirable.
The consultant will ultimately report to the ERDM Unit Chief and collaborate closely with Engineering Solutions in integrating systems.

Responsibilities:
SharePoint Architecture and Design
Architect intuitive, user-friendly SharePoint environments with clear navigation, branding, metadata models, and permissions.
Organize and structure content in a way that promotes ease of use, searchability, and alignment with operational workflows.
Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint Online intranet pages, libraries, and tools used across the Engineering Department.
Apply UX/UI design principles to enhance the usability and visual appeal of SharePoint portals.
Collaborate with communications and process teams to translate information into accessible and well-structured SharePoint content.
Develop custom site templates, web parts, and layouts using SharePoint Framework (SPFX) and other supported technologies.
Architect, design, and develop new applications and workflows in SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Pages.
Required Education and Technical Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience with SharePoint Online site design, development, and architecture.
Proven experience developing and supporting SharePoint intranet sites, including navigation, layouts, templates, metadata, and permissions.
Proficiency with SharePoint Framework (SPFX), PowerShell, and SharePoint administration tools.
Demonstrated understanding of UX/UI principles for internal portals and digital communications.
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Preferred Technical Qualifications and Experience:
Experience with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
Familiarity with legacy systems such as OpenText and SharePoint Designer workflows.
Experience working with branding, content strategy, or digital communications in an internal or intranet environment.
Experience working with public agencies, utilities, or other large organizations with formal content governance.
Process Automation and Business Intelligence, automation through Power Automate workflows.
Experience with Power Apps to supplement SharePoint tools.
