Materials Analysis Engineer

Seattle, WA

Pay: 135K-159K

Type: Contract

Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Materials Analysis Engineer to join our R&D laboratory team to support various products reaching EOL. This role focuses on the systematic teardown and analysis of electronics and battery systems to determine material composition and properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform careful disassembly of electronic devices and battery systems following strict safety protocols
  • Conduct materials composition analysis using spectroscopic and microscopic techniques
  • Document and maintain detailed records of teardown procedures and findings
  • Create and maintain bills of materials (BOM) for analyzed systems
  • Support R&D initiatives through systematic investigation of material properties
  • Contribute to laboratory capability development and process improvements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in electronics disassembly or materials analysis
  • Strong understanding of chemical composition and material properties
  • Demonstrated experience with laboratory safety protocols and procedures
  • Experience with analytical instruments (spectroscopy, microscopy)
  • Strong attention to detail and systematic approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with robotics systems
  • Knowledge of battery technologies and electronics
  • Laboratory equipment maintenance experience
  • Previous experience in R&D environment
