MetaPhase is seeking a Systems Engineer with AWS experience to support the FBI under the ITSSS-2 contract. This role involves managing and modernizing the infrastructure for high-impact law enforcement applications and services. The engineer will work across cloud and on-prem environments to ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance with federal security standards.
This position requires a balance of hands-on technical execution, systems thinking, and collaboration with stakeholders in a classified environment.

MetaPhase is seeking a Systems Engineer with AWS experience to support the FBI under the ITSSS-2 contract. This role involves managing and modernizing the infrastructure for high-impact law enforcement applications and services. The engineer will work across cloud and on-prem environments to ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance with federal security standards.
This position requires a balance of hands-on technical execution, systems thinking, and collaboration with stakeholders in a classified environment.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Design, implement, and maintain creative end-to-end solutions in AWS GovCloud
- Build and manage systems across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
- Adhere to security and compliance requirements and guidelines
- Document new and existing solutions (knowledge base articles, functional and technical diagrams , configuration management )
- Automate provisioning, configuration management, and system monitoring using tools like Ansible , Terraform , and CloudFormation
- Support and optimize CI/CD processes, containerization, and system integrations
- Conduct troubleshooting and performance tuning across Linux and Windows-based systems
- Work alongside cybersecurity, network, and DevOps teams to ensure zero-trust and FedRAMP alignment
- Monitor systems for uptime, availability, and security anomalies using tools like CloudWatch , Splunk , or Datadog
- Maintain documentation, diagrams, and SOPs for system architecture and runbooks
- Participate in sprint planning, technical reviews, and stakeholder briefings
What We Need From You (Required):
- Current active Top-Secret clearance, with SCI eligibility. U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure support
- Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure with AWS services (e.g., EKS, ECS, EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, Lambda, RDS)
- Proficiency with Linux systems administration and scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, or Python)
- Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code ( IaC ) and automation
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Working knowledge of NIST security standards , STIGs , and FedRAMP controls
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Bonus Points (desired):
- AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect Associate)
- Experience supporting FBI, DOJ, or other national security clients
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or Docker in secure cloud environments
- Experience supporting enclave-based systems or cross-domain solutions
- Knowledge of zero-trust architectures and endpoint compliance strategies
Work Setup & Clearance:
- Washington, DC
- Clearance: Position requires a current, active Top-Secret clearance with the capability to obtain an (SCI) as requested by the government. U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Travel:
- Occasional travel to Winchester, VA
Compensation:
- Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is 130k-150k.
