RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Engineer in Chandler, AZ. Are you passionate about cutting-edge technology and excited by the idea of contributing to the aerospace industry? We are looking for a Senior Mission Software Engineer to join our client's team on a high-impact project. This is a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical software that supports global connectivity and innovation. This is a contract position to begin with. This role requires three days onsite in the Phoenix, AZ or McLean, VA areas (Phoenix preferred).
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining mission software components. You will work independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality solutions that support cross-functional efforts across all areas of ground system software development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for Systems Software
* Plan and deliver software releases aligned with program schedules and budgets
* Conduct architecture, requirements, design, and code reviews
* Work within an Agile/Scrum framework using tools like Jira, Git, and Confluence
* Follow established processes for change control, risk management, and software deployment
* Communicate technical concepts clearly through documentation and briefings
* Collaborate with stakeholders and respond to technical inquiries
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline
* 8+ years of software engineering experience
* 2+ years of experience in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing
* 1+ years of experience in mission planning, network management, or flight dynamics
* Strong problem-solving skills and engineering fundamentals
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience with real-time systems integration, CI/CD, and operations monitoring
* Solid understanding of mission planning, data routing, and/or flight dynamics
* Familiarity with Microservices Design Patterns and cloud migration best practices
Preferred Skills:
* 5+ years of experience with: C/C++, Python, Linux environments and bash scripting, Atlassian tools (Jira, Git, Bitbucket, Crucible, Confluence) or GitLab
* 2+ years of experience with: Perl, MATLAB, Java, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, XML, JSON, SQL, JFrog Artifactory, CI/CD pipelines, NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), RESTful APIs, WebSockets, ELK stack, and Microservices architectures
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
