Job Details

In this role, you will develop electrolyte chemistries to enable advanced battery technologies with improved cell performance. Explore and identify potential electrolyte formulations with electrolyte options ranging from conventional electrolytes to polymeric and solid electrolytes. Plan and carry out systematic experimentation and map out the process-property-performance relationships for electrolyte candidates. Drive the electrolyte selection and support the scaling-up process.

Description -Lead electrolyte development and deliver solutions for improved electrolytes to meet the increasing power demand in battery products. -Establish methodology to screen electrolyte candidates for superior cell performance. -Design and execute well-structured experiments and employ state-of-the-art electrochemical and material analysis methods to evaluate the candidate electrolytes. -Develop understanding for impedance drivers such as electrolyte interphases and bulk electrolyte properties and develop mitigations for electrolyte-dependent cell degradation and failure modes. -Collaborate closely across Apple and external partner teams to formulate, evaluate, and integrate novel electrolyte materials to enhance electrochemical performance

Minimum Qualifications
  • BS degree.
  • Experience with novel electrolyte solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in materials science, physics, chemical engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in battery or related fields.
  • Experience designing and conducting systematic experiments in laboratory, glovebox, and dry room environments.
  • Ability to analyze process, materials, and electrochemical data to establish process, property, and performance relationships.
  • A data-driven analytical approach with well-established skills for the use of statistical analysis and formal problem-solving tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
