Description:


Design Engineering encompasses the design and analysis of parts, components, assemblies, subassemblies and systems, and the production of associated drawings and instructions.Under general guidance of supervisor or more experienced engineer, perform various engineering duties requiring the exercise of judgment and application of standard engineering principles and practices. Pursue initiatives to improve effectiveness of the group and increase customer satisfaction.

Job Summary:
The R&D Services Engineer will support the Electrification Services product line at our site. Displaying strong leadership skills and demonstrable experience in design, quality, safety and compliance, new product development and manufacturing implementation, the R&D Services Engineer will be a strong contributing team member to an Agile R&D working on highly technical and cross-functional projects . In this role, you will be working on retrofitting designs for many product lines including circuit breakers, switchgear, and panelboards.

Responsibilities:
Support the product line design, development, and manufacturing implementation of engineering programs that meet business standards and program / product requirements.
Plan, execute, and report on the technical design, schedule, and test results of a program with guidance from senior engineering resources.
Design, develop, analyze, and document product designs which meet the functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements of the customer or market.
Demonstrate conformance to Product Technical Specifications and international standards using Design for Six Sigma and Design for Reliability methodologies. Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Create and maintain technical documentation for all design work and present material for technical review including but not limited to tolerance loops, drawings, bill of materials, product cost, problem and action lists, risk management, and Failure root cause analysis reviews.
Execute designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs for designs which may include plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive parts.
Support manufacturing implementation of products through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
Develop and execute test plans including prototype design and assembly and root cause analysis.

Your Background:
Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of engineering experience.
Experience with 3D CAD Software design, modelling, and Bills of Materials
Familiarity with mechanical design for mechanisms, thermal performance, and structural performance.
Ability and interest in working with their hands to assemble, test, and root cause.
Proven ability to analyze test data and solve design issues.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to influence and drive change/results.

Desired Characteristics:
Experience in Mechanical design related to electrical components or equipment.
Knowledge of certification standards for electrical equipment (UL, IEC, ANSI/IEEE).
Previous experience with automated generation of Bill of Materials.
Proven record of engineering analysis and design execution success.
Experience on thermal, stress, structural and short circuit, analysis, and mechanism design using Creo as modeling tool.
LEAN/Six Sigma - Green Belt certified.
Circuit Breaker, Switchgear, Controls, Power Panels or other Electro-Mechanical design and testing experience.
Takes ownership and drives results.
Ability to execute effectively as an independent contributor and as a team member.
Must possess a high level of motivation and resourcefulness working in an open environment.
Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
Willingness to take on challenging assignments and ability to work within time constraints

Must have a mechanical engineering degree
Must have industry experience with independent design
Must be comfortable and interested in using hands to assemble prototypes and test.
