Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Commercial Cabling Technician to join our growing infrastructure team. This role involves installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems in commercial environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team on mid-sized to large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, terminate, and test copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling in commercial buildings.
  • Interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installations.
  • Perform cable routing through ceilings, walls, and conduit systems.
  • Label and document all cabling according to project specifications and standards.
  • Conduct cable certification and troubleshooting using appropriate testing equipment (e.g., Fluke testers).
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI).
  • Mentor and support Level 1 technicians and assist with on-site training.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other trades on-site.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications preferred.
  • 1.5-4 years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage systems installation.
  • Proficiency in terminating and testing copper and fiber cabling.
  • Familiarity with cabling standards and installation practices.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Certifications (not required but a plus):
  • BICSI Installer 2 (Copper or Fiber)
  • OSHA 10/30
  • Manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Panduit, Leviton, Corning)

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
