Job Description

This position will require metallurgical expertise and the innovative thought process to bring new and improved products to market. It would also require thermal spray comprehension in order to evaluate returned products and research and development samples. Good communication skills are required, as it is critical to work with other departments as well as with outside vendors and customers.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and improve thermal spray coatings on tools used in various applications
Perform analysis on returned products in a timely manner, documenting analysis work and preparing technical reports
Perform lab testing and design qualification test programs/documentation of new materials and processes
Provide technical support to a broad range of people including internal engineering, manufacturing, and field operations, as well as customers and suppliers.
Disposition material on non-conformance issues.
Prepare and maintain global raw material and special process specifications
Audit and evaluate third party suppliers that offer raw materials and thermal spray/plating services
Assist design engineers with selection of materials/ coatings for performance in various drilling environments

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, or other relevant science related field
Working knowledge of metallurgical testing equipment used for destructive testing and material evaluation
3-10 years of experience

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Ability to effectively communicate technical information both verbally and in writing.
Working knowledge of applicable industry standards such as API, ASTM, NACE & ISO specifications
