Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior W&B Engineer works under the guidance of a lead engineer to develop all aspects of Weight and Balance Control, W&B system (IT) development, and development of data in support of the company flight manual/weight & balance manual. The Sr. W&B Engineer will also support of all internal customers to include Flight Ops, TechOps, Load Planners, Flight Dispatchers, Cargo Agents, QA Auditors and Flight Safety investigators. The Engineer will also support external customers in the development, interpretation, and analysis of W&B data. The Sr. W&B engineer, under the guidance of a lead engineer, will also be responsible for maintaining and supporting the fleet/s assigned to them.

  • Manages W&B Control systems and processes under the guidance of the lead engineer
  • Maintains and supports all aspects of Aircraft W&B data for United Airlines on assigned Fleet/s under the guidance of the Lead Engineer
  • This includes the development of W&B models for new fleets
  • Develops and Maintains Weight and Balance System under guidance of Lead Engineer
  • Supports Internal and External Customers with W&B support and analysis

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Engineering Degree from an accredited University
  • Must have attended Boeing and/or Airbus Weight and Balance Engineering classes
  • 3-5 years experience in airline flight operations engineering with consequential time devoted to Weight and Balance engineering, or related area, or; 1) Significant experience in W&B Control & Support 2) W&B IT System Development
  • Must have expert knowledge of, and experience in two or more areas of Aircraft W&B; 1) W&B Control and Support 2) W&B IT System Development
  • Good Oral & Written Communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • BS in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering
  • Attended classes from both OEM's
  • Experience in functional development of Weight and Balance systems
  • Experience in all aspects of Aircraft Performance Engineering
  • Good presentation skills
