Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a Professional Water Resources Engineer to join their Transportation Design team in Minneapolis, MN. This role involves leading the design and development of drainage systems for complex transportation projects across Minnesota. The engineer will collaborate with MnDOT, city, and county clients, and contribute to high-profile projects using alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design hydrologic and hydraulic models for transportation infrastructure
- Develop roadway drainage and stormwater treatment systems
- Design erosion control and sediment management BMPs
- Conduct bridge and culvert hydraulic analysis
- Coordinate and obtain agency permitting
- Collaborate with roadway design teams to ensure constructability and integration of drainage systems
- Participate in professional development and client engagement activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Biosystems Engineering with a focus on hydrology or water resources
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Minnesota or ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months
- Minimum 4 years of experience in water resources engineering, hydrology, and stormwater management
- Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software
- Experience with MicroStation and GEOPAK Drainage and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong spatial thinking and understanding of construction practices
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on Design-Build or alternative delivery projects
- Familiarity with MnDOT standards and permitting processes
