Title: BladeLogic Engineer

Location: someone available in Pittsburgh, PA, but open to candidates remote, preferably still in other BNY locations: Lake Mary, FL, or New York, NY

Duration/Type of Job: 6 months possibility to extend or convert

Opportunity available for a BladeLogic Engineer to support our client in their BladeLogic server automation.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead with expertise in BMC BladeLogic Server Automation to support our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating and managing BladeLogic packages, scripts, and jobs for both UNIX and Windows servers. This role involves overseeing the installation, upgrade, and uninstallation of core and layered applications across various environments, ensuring compliance with security policies, and maintaining high standards of package quality and deployment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage BladeLogic packages, NSH scripts, compliance jobs, file deploy jobs, software deploy jobs, and discovery jobs for UNIX and Windows servers.
  • Create and execute BladeLogic jobs for the installation, upgrade, or uninstallation of applications across QA, DEV, TEST, and PROD servers.
  • Implement and manage Access Control Lists (ACLs) to apply security policies on various objects, including jobs, files, and servers.
  • Administer user accounts, generate BDSSA reports, and configure Active Directory authentication.
  • Evaluate and validate requests by downloading sources, assessing instructions, and prioritizing tasks based on complexity and dependencies.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met for package delivery.
  • Package applications by creating MSI and tar files using Wise Package Studio and other tools.
  • Conduct quality checks on packages to ensure compliance with client policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Deploy packages in the client environment using BMC BladeLogic 8.1 tools.
  • Lead the migration of BMC BladeLogic across different infrastructures, such as from Solaris to Linux.
  • Upgrade BMC BladeLogic versions and client agents on target servers.
  • Utilize automation tools like Ansible to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in BMC BladeLogic Server Automation.
  • Strong experience in UNIX and Windows server environments.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing BladeLogic jobs and packages.
  • Knowledge of user administration, BDSSA reporting, and AD authentication setup.
  • Experience in package testing and deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure migration and version upgrades.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible.
