UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator with deep expertise supporting DB2 v10 or higher on IBM z/OS platforms.
This hybrid role supports enterprise-scale financial and payroll applications, including PMS and PPMSthe Citys payroll and pension payroll systems. The ideal candidate will bring extensive database administration experience, system integration skills, and a strong understanding of IBM InfoSphere, CICS, and related technologies.

- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or a related technical/business discipline is required.
- Hands-on experience supporting DB2 v10 or higher on IBM z/OS platforms
- Experience with IBM IMS V12 database management or higher
- Ability to perform core DBA duties: backup/recovery, reorgs, and DB troubleshooting
- Experience with CICS Transaction Server
- Ability to author REXX scripts
- Proficiency in troubleshooting assembler code
- Expertise in resolving issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs
- Ability to design solutions using Oracle Transparent Gateway
- Experience designing and implementing BMC BPPM Monitoring software
- Skilled in installing and troubleshooting IBM Tivoli LDAP Server on AIX
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining data propagation solutions using IBM InfoSphere Replication Server
- Experience installing and managing DB2 on AIX platforms
- Deep experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-wide financial and payroll applications built on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions
- Support City payroll and pension payroll applications (PMS and PPMS)
- Install, configure, and tune DB2 databases on IBM z/OS platform
- Author and validate procedures for all database processes
- Identify and implement modifications/updates for DB2 programs
- Collaborate with Technical Support to deliver migration components and instructions
- Execute data fixes and recovery functions
- Perform standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs)
- Assist in tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills
