Job Title: Power Electronics/Inverter Engineer - SME
Location: Remote (Travel to Juno Beach, FL)
Duration: 12 Months

 

Summary:
Seeking a skilled Power Electronics/Inverter Engineer SME to lead testing, commissioning, and integration of utility-scale solar and BESS inverter projects. The role executes FIT/SAT procedures, manages grid compliance testing, troubleshoots advanced control logic, and ensures regulatory standards for large renewable projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead FIT and SAT for utility-scale inverters (1MW+), ensuring deployment validation
  • Commission inverter control systems and power electronics; manage startup and energization
  • Diagnose faults using OEM software and advanced diagnostics support remote connectivity
  • Manage PPA, LGIA, and OEM testing processes for grid compliance and COD
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, validate safety/protocols, and document technical results
  • Review schematics, drawings, and optimize inverter parameter models
  • Collaborate with SCADA, EMS, and communication teams on protocols and integration
  • Support remote monitoring, access, cybersecurity, and warranty management
  • Coordinate with contractors, OEMs, utilities, and internal stakeholders

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
  • 1+ years experience with utility-scale power electronics/inverter systems
  • Advanced knowledge of inverter functions (volt-var, grid forming, frequency response)
  • Expertise in SCADA, EMS, ICCP/TASE.2, RTU, and automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP)
  • Experience in commissioning, diagnostics, drawing review, and stakeholder management
  • NERC CIP cybersecurity awareness, analytical and communication skills
