Role Summary
The Network Security Engineer is a mid- to senior-level position responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise network security solutions. This role involves supporting both on-premise and cloud security architectures to safeguard organizational information assets. The position requires technical expertise in network security management platforms, firewalls, and zero trust frameworks, with an emphasis on maintaining a resilient security posture within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with application teams to design, install, and configure network security management platforms such as SIEM, SOAR, and NDR for cloud and on-premise environments.
- Develop test cases, regression plans, and perform unit and peer testing to ensure system integrity.
- Document processes, standards, technical specifications, and create network and system architecture diagrams.
- Provide daily support through troubleshooting incidents and responding to after-hours emergency requests.
- Perform system and application patching during scheduled maintenance windows.
- Monitor network performance, analyze security alerts, and optimize firewall and SASE configurations.
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and current cybersecurity trends to improve security measures.
- Assist with security incident investigations and contribute to remediation efforts.
- Develop and update technical manuals, procedures, and security documentation.
- Support compliance efforts by ensuring security policies are followed and audits are prepared.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT with a focus on network security engineering.
- At least 3 years working with network security management tools such as Splunk, Palo Alto, Firemon, Cisco, or similar platforms.
- Proven expertise in Palo Alto Firewall technologies and WAN networking protocols.
- Experience with Zero Trust architecture, SASE, and cloud security solutions like AWS and Azure.
- Strong understanding of IP routing, network performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Active engagement in security organizations (e.g., ISSA, ISACA, InfraGard) is preferred.

- Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Publishing Pay Range: $75.00 - $81.00 Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
