Job Title: Automation Controls Engineer (with GMP experience)
(This is NOT an Automation Testing job)
Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Duration: 6+ months
Pay Rate: $55/hr - $70/hr (depending on experience)
Job Description:
Seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with Project Management abilities with strong GMP manufacturing exposure. This role is focused on driving project ownership and execution with minimal oversight. Looking for a proactive, hands-on leader who can step into ongoing automation projects and ensure deliverables are met within GMP-compliant frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage GMP automation projects with minimal supervision.
- Drive progress on change controls, work orders, and other quality records in alignment with site standards.
- Ensure project timelines and milestones are met as defined in project plans.
- Lead and support SAT and FAT documentation and execution.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support within GMP manufacturing suites.
- Lead upgrade efforts for automated Burkert valve switchpacks, including HMI redesigns and PLC I/O updates (FactoryTalk platform).
- Oversee decommissioning of Integrated Automation Systems including:
- Updating OSI PI tags
- Modifying Ignition Perspective system interfaces
- Updating CompactLogix PLC code and HMIs
- Revising SOPs accordingly
- Act as Automation SME for the commissioning of a Single-Use TFF Skid, working closely with the vendor on automation and network integration.
