Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Linux Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting a Linux environment, with a focus on Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS OS and Container platforms. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our Linux infrastructure, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence.

Total Rewards
At Samsung - SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,500.00 and $215,300.00 Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education, skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
Samsung employees have access to benefits including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), onsite lunch, employee purchase program, tuition assistance (after 6 months), paid time off, student loan program, wellness incentives, and many more. In addition, regular full-time employees (salaried or hourly) are eligible for MBO bonus compensation, based on company, division, and individual performance.
Additionally, this role might be eligible to participate in long term incentive plan and relocation.
This is an exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Linux Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting a Linux environment, with a focus on Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS OS and Container platforms. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our Linux infrastructure, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence.
- You will design and develop Ubuntu server provisioning, patching, and configuration management alongside our mature Red Hat Linux Server provisioning, patching framework, and in coordination with overall Linux server best practices.
- You will engage with Software and Hardware development teams to understand their requirements and map to secure infrastructure design.
- You will collaborate with the IT security team and customer teams to deploy a secure Linux OS platform.
- You will improve and refine system and service monitoring to ensure optimal performance.
- You will perform hands-on server/hardware debugging and problem remediation to resolve issues quickly.
- You will support a virtualized environment and large physical compute environment, ensuring seamless operation.
- You will implement solutions to problems of diverse scope, including data analysis to identify root cause and contributing factors.
- You will improve and refine server OS deployments and provisioning processes to increase efficiency.
- You will build, configure, and support open-source tools and application stacks on Linux platforms.
- You will maintain accurate documentation, manage services, identify areas for improvement, and deliver high-quality services.
- You will automate and improve existing processes to increase productivity and efficiency.
- You will review, improve, and generate documentation for multiple functional areas, ensuring knowledge sharing and continuity.
Skills and Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or comparable field, or 8+ years of experience with a Master's Degree, or 6+ year of experience with a Ph.D.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux OS, including Ubuntu, RHEL, and CentOS
- Experience with Linux administration, scripting, and configuration management
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, storage concepts, and virtualization
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Atlassian tools, DevOps best practices, and new compute solutions
- Familiarity with containers, kubernetes/OpenShift, and generative AI compute infrastructure
