Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications written in Free Format RPG, RPG IV, and ILEto support Fareway s retail operations.
  • Collaborate with Fareway business units (such as supply chain, inventory, POS, and finance) to gather and refine requirements.
  • Perform analysis and conversion of legacy RPG III programs into modern Free Format RPG.
  • Integrate IBM i applications with other systems using APIs (REST/SOAP)and flat file transfers.
  • Support batch job processes and automation workflows through CL programming.
  • Maintain and enhance DB2/400 database structures, stored procedures, and queries.
  • Participate in application modernization initiatives, especially integrating AS400 systems with web and mobile frontends.
  • Ensure application security, performance tuning, and reliability in a production environment.
  • Provide day-to-day production support and resolve service tickets related to Fareway's iSeries systems.

Technical Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in RPG IV / Free-Form RPG / RPG ILE
  • Proficient in CL programming, DB2/400, DDS, and embedded SQL
  • Experience using SEU, RDi, PDM, SDA, and Query/400
  • Strong understanding of retail systems, including inventory, POS, and supply chain modules
  • Familiarity with job scheduling toolsand batch processing
  • Ability to write technical documentation and follow SDLC best practices
  • Integration experience using RESTful APIs, JSON/XML
  • Familiarity with TurnOver, Aldon, or similar change management tools
  • Exposure to modern programming environmentslike Java or Python for integration purposes
  • Experience supporting or developing retail systems within the grocery or food distribution industry
