Title: Database Developer
Location: Corinth, TX. First 6 months onsite-then 2 days/wk onsite
Term: Direct Hire

Company offers a family-oriented environment and a people-first work culture. This is a team of warm and outgoing personalities operating north of Lewisville, TX seeking a Database Developer with Oracle 12c and above, PL/SQL, SQL Queries and strong scripting ability using PowerShell and Python.

Position Summary
Be an integral part of a technical team at Utilities company. As the Database Developer, you will take part in initiatives aimed at a company's technology innovation. Use creativity and technical skills to apply the principles of applications programming to meet the needs for an organization. Database Developer will be responsible to analyze the needs of an organization and produce an effective database system according to their needs and specifications. This includes collecting data, analyzing the data, designing algorithms, drawing flowcharts, and implementing code for the logic developed through the algorithms and flowcharts. Also responsible for basic troubleshooting, problem resolution and maintenance of applications centered around Oracle/MS SQL databases. This position requires an individual with hands on experience in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, No SQL and scripting languages like Python, PowerShell and R.

Experience Required
  • 3+ years' experience in Oracle 12c and above.
  • 3 + years hands-on experience with Oracle (more specifically PL/SQL).
  • 2+ years' experience in application development/support.
  • Hands on experience with Python, PowerShell.
Experience Preferred
  • Some experience in application development and support using C#.Net technology and R.
  • Technology experience including, programming, customer information systems, billing, report generation, analysis, etc.
Skills and Abilities Required
  • Principles and techniques of applications programming and system analysis applicable to area of assignment, to include data, communications, database design, associated modules and sub-routines.
  • Data will be pulled from various forms and sources, so the work requires someone with strong SQL and SQL Query development skills.
  • Operating principles, capabilities and limitations of information processing systems, subroutines, programs and computer software.
  • Organizes, conducts, analyzes and documents computer program research and development.
  • Assists in designing and implements and maintains data communications, security and privacy measures for assigned programs or systems.
  • Collaborate with lead to identify, analyze, and resolve basic programming problems applicable to information processing systems, to include problem-avoidance.
  • Develops or revises programs to analyze program effectiveness, using appropriate machine language(s).
  • Good organizational, problem solving and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of database driven sites and functionality.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint).
Skills and Abilities Preferred
  • Previous experience with production support.
Primary Position Responsibilities
  • Maintains data integrity and security protocols of all systems.
  • Develops applications and automations backend efficiently with normalization, indexing and all good practices for database system development.
  • Designs, updates, creates, and produces both scheduled and ad-hoc reports with guidance.
  • Maintains logs of all issues and ensures resolutions according to quality assurance tests for all production processes.
  • Performs technical problem solving with guidance.
  • Contributes to teamwork with initiative in taking ownership of assigned issues, ability to multitask and work with guidance.
  • Assists users in determining specific issues and researches means of achieving desired end results.
  • Assists in coordinating with various teams, (IT groups and external vendors), raising support tickets for issues, analyzing root cause and assisting in efficient resolution of assigned production processes.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with all user groups and provides support as required.
  • Ensures software requests are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Assists team in performing operational evaluation of installed systems and in recommending system adjustments to increase effectiveness.
  • Monitor and provide support to workflows.
  • Participates on a team which provides 24x7 operational support to production systems possibly including holidays and weekends.
Education and Certifications Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
