Job Title: Strategic Engineering Project Manager
Location: Sharonville, OH
Duration: 14-16 months
Job Summary:
To manage and execute a key strategic project for Flavor Producers in Sharonville, OH. The role would be based out of Sharonville. Execute strategic capital project throughout the entire project cycle, from initial concept through successful completion. Present project updates and status reports to executive level within the organization with clear objectives and timelines. Leverage and coordinate key stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are successful including internal teams (Engineering, PSM, Commercial, Operations, Quality, and Safety) and external teams (General Contractors, Process Vendors, Engineering Design Firms etc.). To finish assigned engineering projects in accordance with customer specifications and within schedule and budget limitations, coordinating activities of cross-functional project team, contractors, and vendors.

Essential Functions:
- Manage capital budget for the project, providing routine updates to team.
- Lead and manage a key strategic project.
- Uses team management skills to lead the design group during the conceptual phase of project development.
- Develops agreed project success criteria based on performance, schedule, and budget.
- Directs development of an action plan and requirements for resource management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.
- Develop and maintain overall project action plans with and provide routine updates on activity reports (daily, weekly, monthly etc.).
- Develop and maintain project schedule.
- Develop and manage performance criteria to deliver required operational costs, efficiency, yields, quality, and safety.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and identify solutions with cross functional teams.
- Conduct and manage voice of the customer reviews, technical design reviews, project progress reviews to ensure projects are developed and delivered successfully.
- Apply general engineering technical principles to troubleshoot and implement improvements in various plant or project areas including civil, mechanical, electrical, process, utility, packaging etc.
- Develop project packages for capex approval (scopes, budget, tendering etc.), ensure projects meet procurement and contract requirements, ensure all work meets Quality or EHS requirements (safety, permits, contracts etc.)
- Manage third party contractors throughout all project phases.
- Develop and implement project success criteria.
- Apply Early Management principles.
- Determines the layout of piping, equipment, and utilities for project engineering changes. Develop energy and mass balances to determine plant requirements.
- Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather information and provide guidance for implementation.
- Participate in or lead cross functional team meetings or status update presentations.
- Conduct risk assessments and monitoring to identify issues and develop solutions to eliminate the reoccurrence of those problems.
- Support design and execution of plant or vendor trials to determine the test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement engineering changes.
- Produce project status reports for circulation and presentation to leadership team.
- Support plant operations team and execution of Operational Readiness Plan.
- Manage project installation and commissioning, hours may vary (late nights or weekend work)
- Develop accurate and efficient Process and Instrument Drawings for projects using customer specifications, general process descriptions, company standards and verbal instructions.
- Ensure project system design complies with State and Federal regulations.
- Check drawings for drafting and engineering errors to produce a complete system design for presentation to customers.
- Utilizes lean manufacturing processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of non-negotiables.
- Serve on committees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in capital planning sessions.
- Improve reporting systems and processes used in engineering
- BS in Engineering plus a minimum of 8 years of experience or equivalent years of experience managing engineering capex projects (Food, Flavors or similar process industries).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple project activities simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and in written form.
- Demonstrated ability to participate, support, develop and lead cross functional teams of people through projects to successful completion.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Basic knowledge of software tools for project management and engineering drawing (MS Project, Excel, AutoCAD etc.)
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
