ARCOSA Marine Components is searching for a Summer Engineering Intern for our Ashland City, TN facility. As a Summer Engineering Intern you will help design, implement, and optimize processes, systems, services, or products using broad engineering concepts and research techniques. Additionally, you will experience other areas of the manufacturing process, including safety practices and environmental stewardship, product development, maintenance systems, and quality control.
Arcosa Marine Components, is part of Arcosa's Inland Barge Group, and is a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.
What You Will Do:
Support the engineering design team with creating detailed drawings and 3D models using CAD software
Assist with updates and modifications to existing product designs
Conduct feasibility studies and design calculations
Assist in material selection and sourcing based on engineering specifications
Work with Quality, Continuous Improvement and Maintenance to solve problems
Assist manufacturing team in daily production support activities
Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need:
Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline
Must be sophomore status or higher
Strong computer and presentation skills
Experience with 3D Modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor is preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Environment: There will be times when other responsibilities may require periods of work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, wet, dry, and dusty.
