Mostly Remote (Onsite at Los Alamos, NM initially for equipment setup)
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement cloud-native security solutions in Azure with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents in Azure environments using tools such as Azure Security Center and Azure Sentinel.
  • Develop and optimize incident response, threat detection, and prevention processes.
  • Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and cloud architecture teams to integrate security into infrastructure and applications.
  • Apply network security best practices, including VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Manage and enforce IAM policies in Azure Active Directory.
  • Ensure adherence to cloud and cybersecurity best practices, compliance frameworks, and LANL security policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing and implementing secure, cloud-native solutions in Microsoft Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services including VMs, App Services, Functions, Storage, Networking, and AKS.
  • Strong understanding of incident response and threat detection in Azure.
  • Experience with security monitoring and response using Azure-native tools.
  • Solid grasp of network security concepts such as VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field and 8+ years of experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience securing multi-cloud environments (Azure + AWS).
  • Familiarity with DevOps security best practices and CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • Strong working knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Advanced experience with Azure security services: Azure Security Center, Sentinel, Key Vault, Firewall.
  • Experience managing IAM within Azure Active Directory.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Microsoft Azure Security certifications.
