Job Description

Your Role

Data Services partners across Enterprise Architecture, Portfolio, Analytics, and Application teams to design and deliver data products that power the enterprise. We build and enhance cloud data lakes, data warehouses, and marts that enable analytics, operational reporting, and advanced insights.

As a Full Stack Engineer Intern, you'll contribute to real projects that improve how we design, build, and operate data products. You'll work alongside Solution Design Leads, Data Engineers, and Analysts in an agile environment, gaining hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms while practicing product thinking and engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:
  • Build & validate data pipelines under the guidance of senior engineers to move, transform, and quality-check data for analytics and reporting
  • Leverage AI tools and techniques to enhance data workflows - examples include using AI-powered code assistants for development, applying machine learning models for data quality checks, and exploring generative AI for documentation or query optimization
  • Contribute to data product features by translating user stories into small technical tasks, writing unit tests, and documenting changes
  • Analyze and improve data quality, creating checks, profiling datasets, and assisting in root-cause analysis for data issues
  • Support solution design by drafting simple models, diagrams, or design notes and participating in design reviews
  • Automate the boring stuff using CI/CD basics, version control, and repeatable scripts for development and testing
  • Work the agile way: participate in stand-ups, backlog refinement, demos, and retros; help track work in Jira
  • Learn cloud data patterns (e.g., ingestion, ELT, medallion/Lakehouse, cost-aware architecture) and apply them on bite-sized tasks
  • Document clearly - from runbooks to README files - so others can build on your work

Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field with an anticipated graduation date June 2026 - June 2028 (or similar)
  • Must reside in the state of California
  • At least 1 year of coursework or hands-on projects using SQL and at least one programming language (preferably Python)
  • Fundamental understanding of databases, data structures, and basic software engineering practices (version control, testing)
  • Clear written and verbal communication; collaborative, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced setting

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Familiarity with cloud data concepts (Azure or Snowflake), dbt, or data modeling basics
  • Experience with analytics or data visualization (e.g., building queries for BI)
  • Exposure to agile practices (Scrum/Kanban) and issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Interest in healthcare and using data to improve cost, quality, and experience

Pay

$25.00 per hour for Undergraduate

$30.00 per hour for Graduate
