Job Details


The purpose of this consultancy is to revamp the shared metadata scheme that underpins the internal SharePoint sites, including the Knowledge Gateway and Policy and Practice Database (PPDB). The incumbent will research and design a new metadata scheme, taking into account the clients regulations and standards, a streamlined user experience and the established best practices in the field.

Responsibilities:
In collaboration with and with the support of the project team, Subject Matter Experts and other key stakeholders, the selected candidate will:
? Research the applicable rules, regulations, standards and best practices on information management and metadata management.
? Research the existing best practices of metadata management in other large, international organizations.
? Research, in collaboration with the project team and the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), the technical possibilities and limitations of the tenant of SharePoint Online and the additional webparts at the Organization?s disposal.
? Conduct surveys and/or in-depth interviews with end users of the knowledge management platforms to establish their habits and needs in terms of searching for information and guidance.
? Participate in discussions between the teams in charge of the UN Knowledge Gateway, PPDB and other platforms to agree on shared solutions that meet the needs of all stakeholders.
? Draft a new shared metadata scheme for the Knowledge Gateway and PPDB, including the elements, attributes, and relationships between the types of metadata as well as the rules and guidelines for creating, managing, and using metadata on the two platforms.
? Draft an implementation plan for the new scheme and guide the project teams on the process of its application.
? Troubleshoot any issues that may arise with the new metadata scheme.

Education
? Have a Bachelor?s (or Master?s) degree and/or specialization/certificate in Knowledge Management, Information Management, Library and Information Science, Data Science or Analytics, Information Technology, Business Administration and/or another relevant area or areas.

Work Experience/Skills
? Experience in creating, managing and updating metadata schemes, cataloguing systems, taxonomies, content management systems or similar, demonstrated with specific, verifiable examples.
? Proven experience and competence with the MS Office 365 suite and SharePoint Online, including managing databases, repositories and/or pages in SharePoint.
? Experience working in a global context such as the United Nations or similar organizations is desirable.
