Job Details
Greetings!
We are looking for a Mid-Level Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with strong Tableau skills to support a major reporting migration initiative for the client s business operations. This role is part of the same data insourcing program, focusing on the analytics and reporting layer. The organization currently has a suite of Tableau dashboards and reports pointing to a legacy data warehouse (Amazon Redshift) managed by an outside vendor. As the data platform shifts to an in-house Snowflake warehouse, all those reports need to be migrated or rebuilt to point to the new data source. Your mission will be to ensure a smooth transition of business reporting: the end-users should experience equal or better reporting capabilities with minimal disruption.
Please find the Job description as below:
Workstyle: Hybrid (3 days office and 2 days WFH)
Location: Nashville, TN
NOTE: Candidate must be on Teknosys W2 only.
Key Responsibilities:
Tableau Report Migration: Take ownership of migrating dozens of existing Tableau workbooks/reports from the old Redshift-based data warehouse to the new Snowflake data warehouse. This involves updating data sources in Tableau,
rebuilding data extracts or live connections, and ensuring all filters, calculations, and visuals now pull from Snowflake.
Report Refactoring & Optimization: Where direct migration isn t possible, re-create or refactor reports in Tableau based on business requirements. Optimize dashboards for performance on the new platform (e.g., leveraging Snowflake s capabilities, using efficient queries). Simplify or enhance visualizations as needed to improve usability while maintaining continuity.
Data Validation & Quality Assurance: Work with data engineers to understand the new data models in Snowflake and validate that the data in reports matches expected results. Perform thorough QA on all migrated reports cross-check figures against the legacy reports to ensure accuracy. Identify any data discrepancies and collaborate to resolve them before go-live.
User Liaison & Requirements Gathering: Engage with business users (marketing, sales, finance teams within the organization) to gather any updated reporting requirements during the migration. Some reports might need minor tweaks or improvements during the transition; you ll capture user feedback and ensure the new reports meet their needs or surpass the old ones.
Documentation & Training: Document the new report configurations and data source mappings. If there are changes in how users need to access reports (e.g., new Tableau Server project locations, updated login steps), help communicate and perhaps create a brief user guide. You may also conduct user training sessions or demos to show business users where to find their reports in the new system and highlight any new features.
Support Cutover & Post-Migration: Assist in planning the cutover from the old reporting environment to the new one. This could include scheduling parallel runs, coordinating freeze periods for report updates, and being on-call during the switch. Post-migration, be ready to support any user issues, fix any bugs in reports, and fine-tune performance.
Collaboration & Future Improvements: Collaborate daily with the ETL/Data Engineering team to align on data definitions and timing of data availability. You are effectively the bridge between raw data and business consumption. Additionally, keep an eye toward the future: the client might explore new BI tools or advanced analytics (they ve had success with tools like Sigma for other use cases). Be open to learning and possibly contributing to evaluations of new tools or processes as the analytics stack evolves.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience with Tableau: 5+ years of experience developing dashboards in Tableau (Desktop and Server). Able to create complex calculations, parameters, and interactive visualizations. Experience in migrating or upgrading Tableau environments is a big plus.
Strong SQL & Data Skills: Proficiency in SQL is required to write and understand queries, especially in a data warehouse context. Experience with Snowflake (or other modern cloud data warehouses like Redshift) in connecting and optimizing queries for BI reporting is highly desired. You should be comfortable analyzing schemas and collaborating with data modelers to ensure the data supports reporting needs.
Understanding of Data Warehousing: Familiarity with data warehouse concepts (facts/dimensions, star schemas) and how BI tools interact with them. Experience working with large datasets and optimizing queries for performance (e.g., using aggregate tables or materialized views when necessary, managing extract refresh schedules) is beneficial.
Business Acumen in Reporting: Ability to understand the business context behind reports. You should be able to interpret KPIs and metrics used by departments like Sales, Marketing, Finance, etc. in order to verify that reports are correct and to communicate effectively with end users. Prior experience in the sports industry or entertainment/hospitality industry data is a nice-to-have but not required. The key is being able to translate data into insights that make sense for the business.
Attention to Detail & Quality: Demonstrated track record of delivering reports or analytics projects with a high degree of accuracy. An almost obsessive attention to catching inconsistencies or errors in data.
Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to new tools or approaches. If the client explores additional BI tools (e.g., experimenting with Sigma or Power BI), you d be ready to learn and possibly contribute. Also, adaptable to changes in project scope e.g., if priorities shift, able to refocus quickly.
Education: Bachelor s degree in business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
Kindly share your updated resume in word format and LinkedIn profile link if interested.
