Head of Platform Engineering and Operations 100% Remote
We re working with a nationwide organization in the middle of a major digital transformation. They re building the next generation of e-commerce, content, and data platforms with a shift toward modular, API-driven architecture. They re looking for a hands-on technical leader to head their Platform Engineering and Operations team and drive strategy and execution across a broad tech ecosystem.
This is a full-time contract role (long-term) with the potential to convert. Fully remote, or onsite in NYC if preferred.
What You ll Do:
Lead a team of 10 12 engineers and oversee a global virtual team of 50+ developers and QA professionals across e-commerce, cloud, CRM, ERP, DevOps, and data platforms.
Architect and evolve a modern, headless e-commerce platform with a strong emphasis on API-as-a-Service and content/data services layers.
Drive a 3-year roadmap to deliver flexible, embedded digital experiences across multiple customer touchpoints.
Manage change at scale, coordinating large tech transformation efforts across teams, processes, and platforms.
Partner with executive leadership to align tech direction with business strategy. This role reports to the CTO and regularly interacts with senior leadership and board members.
What We re Looking For:
Deep experience in solutions architecture, particularly with modern e-commerce and headless frameworks.
Strong background in APIs and integration platforms (MuleSoft or similar).
Cloud fluency AWS preferred and familiarity with large-scale retail or digital platforms.
Experience managing hybrid teams and vendor/outsourced development partners.
Comfortable translating complex technical initiatives to non-technical stakeholders.
