Summary

Apple's Sensing Hardware engineering team is looking for a passionate, self-motivated, electro-mechanical generalist Lab Manager. As part of our Sensing Hardware Lab Management team, you will be directly responsible for supporting the Wireless Charging, Data Collection Systems, and TouchID engineering teams, along with the care and upkeep of multiple engineering lab spaces. Key Qualifications

Prior Lab Management experience (including space layout and new equipment installation)Familiarity with industrial health and safety risk assessments and safety protocol enforcementFamiliarity with industrial facilities, pneumatics, and basic equipment troubleshooting techniquesSolid understanding of MacOS endpoint configurationHands on experience with mechanical test equipment, sensors and metrology (microscopes, thermocouples, small industrial robots/actuators, etc.)Hands on experience with basic electrical test equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, DAQs, function generators, etc.)Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a very busy, sometimes chaotic environment; go getter attitude and willingness to focus and commit to get the job doneEffective written and interpersonal communication skills, proven ability to work cross-functionally, harness the power of teamwork, and relate to technical partnersHands-on experience with mechanical test equipment, sensors and metrology (microscopes, thermocouples, small industrial robots/actuators, etc.) is a plusHands-on experience with basic fabrication tools and processes, designing, assembling, and documenting basic test fixtures is a plusExperience with Apple product or other electronics disassembly / repair is a plusScripting skills (Python preferred) are a plus.

Description

This individual contributor Lab Manager role will lead all operational aspects of several hardware engineering lab spaces- Directly responsible for Wireless Charging, Data Collection Systems, and TouchID engineering lab spaces- Collaborate with and support peer lab managers, partner in driving consistent lab capabilities across multiple markets- Define, document, and enforce lab policies and guidelines- Maintain and control access to lab spaces; own lab scheduling, space allocation, security compliance, vendor escort, facilities activities, and general operations- Work with the Environmental Health and Safety team to ensure compliance and adherence to relevant safety protocols- Keep lab spaces clean and organized; improve lab space efficiency through continuous organizational and procedural/process improvements- Manage procurement, inventory, maintenance, and calibration of all laboratory equipment, tools, and supplies- Support engineering test setup, execution, data collection, and documentation- Mac and PC hardware and software setup as related to lab equipment and testing- Support basic electrical and mechanical prototype assembly, debug, and modification

Education & Experience

5+ year minimum related experience required

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $107,500.00 and $223,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
