Job Details
Tandym is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive technical documentation across our IT and business functions.
This is a long-term contract, requiring onsite presence 2 days per week in either McLean, VA or Pensacola, FL
Responsibilities:
- This individual will be responsible for translating complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation, ensuring effective communication between technical teams, end-users, and stakeholders.
- Develop, write, and maintain a wide range of documentation including user guides, API documentation, system/data flow diagrams, technical specifications, and compliance materials.
- Gather and analyze information from analysts, engineers, and other subject matter experts to document workflows, business processes, and technical systems.
- Organize and present complex technical information in a structured, accessible format that meets the needs of both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate and enhance the organization's content architecture to improve content discoverability and reusability.
- Plan, design, and implement documentation related to technical controls, governance policies, risk procedures, and regulatory compliance across business units.
- Utilize industry-standard tools and platforms to create and manage documentation assets.
- Ensure consistency in style, tone, and formatting through advanced editing and proofreading practices.
- Maintain knowledge of key platform capabilities, data governance standards, and system operations within the technology and analytics domain.
- Support teams in aligning documentation practices with frameworks such as SDLC, COBIT, and ITIL.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a technical writing role within a technology or analytics-focused environment.
- Advanced knowledge of information architecture, documentation standards, and best practices.
- Experience with technical documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, MadCap Flare, Markdown, Git, Microsoft Word).
- Familiarity with software development life cycles, compliance standards, and IT frameworks (SDLC, COBIT, ITIL).
- Advanced skills in editing and proofreading technical content for grammar, clarity, and consistency.
- Strong technical acumen with an understanding of software, data analytics, and system architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
