Job Description:

Join General Dynamics IT and be a part of a team that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. We are seeking a Database Analyst Expert to lead the data team for the DMDC Enterprise Law Enforcement Support Services (ELEs2) program at Seaside, CA.

As the Database Expert, you will manage and maintain Database Management Systems (DBMS) software. You will focus on the following aspects of database administration: DBMS installation, configuration, capacity planning, monitoring, patching, upgrades, backups, restores, refreshes, performance optimization, maintenance, set up and response to alerts from monitoring tools, and DR.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning for backup and recovery of database information.
  • Backing up and restoring the database.
  • Contacting all database vendors for technical support as required.
  • Conducting high availability administration backup, recovery, performance tuning, troubleshooting of production, DR, and test databases.
  • Creating and supporting databases across internal and end-user applications, improving database integrity through quality assurance, and managing change control processes related to the environment.
  • Analyzing, testing, coordinating, and facilitating patching to maintain DoD cyber security compliance.
  • Analyzing existing database applications for improvements, database tuning, and monitoring the contractor shall work with application developers to integrate efforts with relational databases, participate in team or company projects as required, maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of existing best practices in database administration, mentor/train lower-level database administrators, perform all tasks associated with DR exercises, perform capacity planning.
  • Provide database administration on call support
  • Developing and troubleshooting shell scripts as needed.
  • Ensuring recovery manager (RMAN) and backup processes and procedures are followed and maintained.
  • Providing monthly database storage utilization and capacity planning reports until such time as this information is available via the dashboard.
  • Perform Data Quality Analysis - Respond to inquiries from Product and Program Managers when there are data quality or data integrity issues that need to be resolved.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience supporting Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases
  • Experience working in both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server environments
  • Experience supporting highly available databases
  • Experience with database replication (examples: ASM, RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, SymetricDS, or GRID technologies)

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 12+ years of experience installing, administering and maintenance of DBMS software
  • Platform certification for database management: Oracle Database Certified Professional (OCP), etc.
  • One IAT III certification: (CASP CE or CCNP Security or CISA or CISSP ED IH)
  • TS/SCI

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
