Job Title: Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engineer (Rendering Farm PoC)
Location: Remote
Duration: Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (RHOSV) Engineer with hands-on expertise in virtualization, GPU acceleration (NVIDIA vGPU), and rendering farm environments. The engineer will lead the planning, installation, and configuration of a minimal RHOSV environment to support a virtual rendering Proof of Concept (PoC). This includes implementing NVIDIA vGPU software, deploying base Linux and Windows virtual machines, integrating rendering applications, and providing scaling and optimization guidance for future production rollout.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deploy a minimal Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (RHOSV) environment for a GPU-accelerated rendering PoC.
- Provide architectural best practices for scaling and performance tuning of RHOSV environments.
- Install and configure NVIDIA vGPU Manager on RHOSV hosts, and install matching vGPU drivers on guest VMs (Linux and Windows).
- Build and test base Linux and Windows virtual machines, verifying GPU visibility and driver functionality.
- Install, configure, and validate rendering applications (e.g., Blender, Arnold, V-Ray, or equivalent) within the VMs.
- Install and integrate AWS Deadline or similar render management tools to manage and monitor render workloads.
- Set up and configure monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, or NVIDIA DCGM Exporter) to capture CPU, memory, network, and GPU utilization metrics.
- Analyze system performance data and provide tuning and optimization recommendations (VM sizing, resource allocation, vGPU profiles, storage and network configuration).
- Deliver a final documentation package including architecture diagram, test results, metrics summary, and production scaling recommendations.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5 10 years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and OpenShift/Kubernetes environments.
- Proven experience installing, configuring, and managing Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization (RHOSV) or KubeVirt-based
- Strong expertise in NVIDIA GPU / vGPU setup and configuration on Linux-based virtualization platforms.
- Practical knowledge of rendering farm environments (e.g., AWS Deadline, Autodesk Backburner, or equivalent).
- Experience with Linux and Windows VM deployment, driver installation, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, DCGM, etc.).
- Experience collecting and analyzing performance metrics for CPU, memory, network, and GPU utilization.
- Solid understanding of networking, storage, and virtualization fundamentals (vNICs, VLANs, Ceph/NFS, persistent volumes).
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to create clear architectural diagrams and reports
