Job Details

Please note that this is a 1-year contract position with possibility to extend.

Hours: M-F 8am-5pm. Occasionally overtime, depends on client s needs.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required with completed technical training in the field of electrical engineering, electrical installer or in radio / television technology
2-4 years of experience
Professional experience with the installation and commissioning of electronic devices
Knowledge and experience in the radio field (HF / mobile radio / spectrum analyzer) is an advantage- Good to have
Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Office applications
Willingness to work away from home, flexible working hours and open to learning new things
Class B OR Class C driving license

Technical Skills & Experience (Must-Haves):

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience (not entry-level, but not senior-level either)

    • Candidate should have encountered and solved real-world field issues

  • Ability to bend conduit and install raceway

  • Termination and verification of Ethernet cabling (8-pair testing)

  • Experience cleaning and testing fiber

  • Previous hands-on work with Wi-Fi infrastructure installs

    • Access points

    • Switches

  • Working knowledge of general networking (Wi-Fi focused)

  • Basic knowledge of spectrum analyzers is a plus, not required

  • RF troubleshooting is handled by the design team; not required

Tools & Equipment Requirements:

  • Candidate must ideally provide their own truck with:

    • Ladder (up to 8 feet)

  • Must bring essential tools, including:

    • Wire cutters

    • Crimping tools

    • Power drill

    • Screwdrivers

    • Hammer

    • Caulking gun

  • Fiber and copper testers can be provided if necessary

  • Employer is willing to invest in additional equipment for the right candidate

Soft Skills & Work Style:

  • Must be a self-starter

    • Candidate should be comfortable working independently across multiple sites

    • No micromanagement; will be expected to follow a weekly site schedule independently

  • Problem-solving ability is key

    • Should have experience making decisions in the field without needing constant supervision

Job Overview:

This is a field-based network installation technician position responsible for deploying wireless network infrastructure throughout Los Angeles County, CA. The work includes installing access points (APs), running conduit and cable, performing network testing, and generating QA documentation. Self-direction and field readiness are essential, as this role involves minimal supervision and multi-site responsibility.

The initial contract is one year, with the possibility of extension.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install wireless network hardware, including Access Points (APs), switches, and point-to-point or multipoint radios

  • Bend conduit and install raceway systems

  • Drill, mount, and route cabling through ceilings/walls

  • Terminate and test Ethernet cables (all 8 pairs)

  • Pull and terminate copper and fiber cabling

  • Install 60 GHz radios (not complex deployments—typically 1–5 APs and 1 switch per site)

  • Conduct post-installation heatmap surveys using laptop-installed software

  • Document and validate Wi-Fi signal coverage and quality

  • Travel to multiple customer sites across LA County weekly

  • Work independently to complete assigned site installs on schedule
