RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Edison, New Jersey is looking for a Data Scientist to join their team. This position will be in the office one week a month, with the rest of the month being remote. The Senior Data Scientist will join a collaborative team of highly talented Analysts, Engineers, Designers, and Managers. This role requires using data analysis, applied mathematics, machine learning (ML), and large language models to build next-generation predictive solutions and artificial intelligence tools that enable clinicians and other end-users to perform their work more efficiently and effectively.

Duties:
* Work with stakeholders to document and understand their objectives and ideate how AI/ML solutions might achieve those objectives
* Perform exploratory data analysis to assess the available data and determine its suitability for developing AI/ML solutions
* Optimize Large Language Model (LLM) output using prompt engineering and build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines
* Build AI/ML models to address business objectives, explore model options, and evaluate performance characteristics
* Create repeatable, interpretable, and scalable models that can be integrated into analytic data products
* Engineer features by creatively combining data sources using business acumen
* Write production-quality pipeline code to load data, execute AI/ML models, and store results
* Analyze AI/ML models for fairness, bias, equity, performance, and interpretability
* Develop Python code that integrates effectively with the broader team's codebase, including work by engineers and analysts
* Communicate ML/AI methodology and impact to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making
* Proactively update stakeholders on scheduling and workflow changes
* Lead complex projects, manage multiple teams and stakeholders, and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership and clients
* Mentor and coach junior team members on ML/AI methods and best practices

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in STEM or a related/relevant field
* 4+ years of experience in a data science role, or 5+ years in data engineering, analytics, or architecture
* Extensive experience with Python development
* Extensive experience with SQL
* Proficient in building and interpreting complex statistical and ML models
* Strong understanding of clinical data and ability to query and use it effectively
* Ability to deploy custom ML/AI models to a cloud platform and write production-level code
* Experience optimizing LLM output through prompt engineering and fine-tuning, and creating RAG pipelines
* Ability to develop custom monitoring solutions for AI/ML models
* Effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms

Preferred:
* Master's or PhD
* 5+ years of healthcare data analysis experience
* Proficiency with Epic Clarity clinical data models
* Experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, VertexAI, etc.)
* Familiarity with Git and GitHub
* Experience with Docker

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
* Epic Clarity Data Model
* Epic Clarity Clinical Data Model
* Google Machine Learning Engineer certification

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
