Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Software Engineering Manager (Multiple openings) in Charlotte, NC.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and efficient software solutions using modern technologies and best practices. Specific duties include:

  • Design, develop and optimize backend microservices and RESTful APIs to ensure seamless integration with other services and external systems; and leverage NoSQL databases, Redis, Kafka, and NAS storage solutions, and architect software systems, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance;
  • Optimize existing code bases to improve reliability and reduce system downtime, and implement caching strategies using Redis and optimized query performance for PostgreSQL databases;
  • Manage and configure Kafka-based message streams in both on-prem environments and AWS MSK to support distributed event-driven architectures;
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments using tools, such as Shield and Terraform;
  • Implement, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments using Jenkins;
  • Design and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to improve database performance;
  • Implement OAuth-based authentication mechanisms and securing services using TLS encryption;
  • Develop and optimize PL/SQL stored procedures, triggers, and functions for high-availability applications;
  • Design and manage Oracle partitioned tables and indexing strategies to improve query performance;
  • Work with relational databases, such Oracle or NoSQL;
  • Design and develop custom Kibana dashboards and visualizations for real-time monitoring and analytics;
  • Designing and securing infrastructure components for compliance with PCI-DSS and enterprise security standards;
  • Integrate Datadog Application Performance Monitoring (APM) to track microservices latency and bottlenecks;
  • Implement real-time monitoring solutions using Splunk, Grafana, or AppDynamics tools, to ensure application performance and reliability;
  • Use StormForge machine learning-based tuning to optimize Kubernetes resource allocations for cost and performance; and
  • Analyze Kubernetes pod performance using StormForge experiments and automated scaling strategies.

The position supervises the work of up to eight (8) professionals (software developers/engineers). Uses the following tools and technologies: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, NAS, Redis, Kubernetes (EKS, OpenShift, or Rancher), CI/CD pipelines, Shield, Terraform, MFA, OIDC, Couchbase, APIs, Splunk, AWS, Agile, Scrum, MSSQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Kibana, Stromforge, DataDog, PCI-DSS, RBAC, TLS, Grafana, AppDynamics.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer and Information Systems Security and 5 years (progressive, post-baccalaureate) experience in a software development or engineering occupation.

Required Skills/Experience:

Must also have 36 months of experience with each of the following: 1) Developing and optimizing backend microservices and RESTful APIs to ensure seamless integration with other services and external systems. 2) Managing and configuring Kafka-based message streams in both on-prem environments and AWS MSK to support distributed event-driven architectures. 3) Implementing, managing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments using Jenkins. 4) Implementing OAuth-based authentication mechanisms and securing services using TLS encryption. 5) Working with relational databases Oracle and NoSQL. 6) Implementing real-time monitoring solutions using Splunk, Grafana, or AppDynamics tools, to ensure application performance and reliability. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently. Will accept experience gained before, during, or after earning a master's degree, but only if gained after earning a bachelor's degree.

Base pay range may vary if an offer is made for work in a different location. Pay Range: $140,145 - $164,100.
