Title - Senior Data Engineer
Location - Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Type - Contract
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and SQL DB
- Transform structured and unstructured financial data for LLM readiness
- Monitor and control data lineage, masking, encryption, and access policies
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to deploy pipelines for model training and inference
- Build telemetry and monitoring to ensure real-time alerting for anomalies
- Integrate CI/CD workflows with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar
Must Haves
- 5+ years of experience in cloud-native data engineering (Azure preferred)
- Strong SQL, Python, and data modeling (structured/unstructured)
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks in financial institutions
- Proven track record supporting AI/ML pipelines in regulated environments
- Experience applying data residency, anonymization, and encryption controls
- Familiarity with structured compliance audits and data access reviews
Plusses
- Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or Databricks governance features
- Prior work in GenAI systems or LLM-ready data prep
- Financial services experience, ideally within Tier 1 banks or fintechs
