About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced .NET Architect to lead the design, implementation, and modernization of our financial and payments platform using Azure cloud-native services and microservices-based architectures. As a core technical leader, you will drive scalable solutions and help ensure high availability, security, and performance while working closely with engineering, security, and product teams.

This role requires strong expertise in .NET Core (8/9 preferred), Azure ecosystem, event-driven architecture, and financial services, with a focus on global payment solutions, compliance, and security best practices. We strongly prefer candidates local to Herndon, VA who can support on-site collaboration and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cloud-Native Architecture & Microservices

• Design and implement scalable microservices architectures using .NET Core and Azure Native Services.
• Lead migration and modernization of legacy financial applications to Azure cloud-native environments.
• Develop secure, high-performance APIs optimized for global financial transactions.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery strategies.

1. Financial & Payments System Development

• Architect secure payment gateways, transaction processing, and fraud prevention solutions.
• Implement KYC, AML, compliance, multi-currency handling, and regional regulations for financial applications.
• Optimize real-time payments, reconciliation, and ledger processing.

1. Azure Cloud Strategy & Infrastructure

• Deploy Azure Functions, Service Bus, API Management, Key Vault, and Container Apps for cloud scalability.
• Utilize Bicep, Terraform, and Infrastructure-as-Code to automate cloud environments.
• Implement caching, async messaging, and observability patterns using Redis and Azure tools.

1. Security, Compliance & Cloudflare Integration

• Design Cloudflare protections for global DNS management, API security, rate-limiting, caching, and WAF rules.
• Ensure PCI DSS, SOC2, and GDPR compliance within financial transactions.
• Architect solutions for data encryption, authentication (OAuth2, JWT), and secure API integrations.

1. Engineering Collaboration & Enablement

• Mentor engineering teams on DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing best practices.
• Participate in architecture reviews, hands-on prototyping, and solution design workshops.
• Work with Product Managers, UX/UI teams, and compliance officers to align technical feasibility with business objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years in an architecture role.
• Deep expertise in .NET Core (8/9 preferred) and microservices architecture.
• Extensive experience in Azure cloud-native technologies (Functions, App Services, Service Bus, API Management).
• Strong financial industry background in payments processing, compliance, KYC/AML, and fraud prevention.
• Expertise in event-driven architecture, async processing, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization for scalable deployments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in global payment platforms, payment gateways, and fintech solutions.
• Knowledge of multi-currency handling, regulatory frameworks, and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with Terraform, Bicep, Infrastructure-as-Code, and DevOps best practices.
• Local candidates in Herndon, VA preferred for on-site collaboration.
