Job Description

Materials Engineering student needed to support global product engineering and testing for Bosch Power Solutions located in Charleston, SC. The student will work within an established engineering department specializing in product development, problem solving, materials analysis, and engineering root cause analysis of automotive fuel systems for on-road and off-road applications. Student will report to the department Engineering Manager and will have project work directed by a Principal Engineer (experienced materials engineer).

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze sample returns and field failures for diesel Common Rail products
  • Gain proficiency in use of digital imaging, SEM and EDX
  • Investigate functional, design, and contamination issues on components using dimensional, surface, and material/chemical analytical equipment
  • Coordinate with laboratories in other Bosch facilities, worldwide
  • Evaluate test data, field trends, and component assembly data using modern "Big Data" methods
  • Communicate component investigations and root cause analyses, in detailed technical reports.

Qualifications
  • Enrolled in 4-year engineering program or international equivalent with concentration in materials or mechanical engineering. Sophomore (2nd year) or higher preferred
  • Basic materials and materials testing coursework a plus
  • Experience with writing technical reports, detailed data analysis, also a plus
  • Self-driven and motivated in taking a task and following to completion
  • Enjoys challenges both inside and outside chosen engineering discipline
  • Proficient in MS Excel (VBA), PowerPoint, Power BI (preferred), and Python (a plus)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Accomplished and proficient in creating and delivering clear concise presentations
