AI/ML Infrastructure Technical Lead (Hands-On)

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to spearhead the infrastructure initiatives supporting our AI and machine learning workloads. In this role, you ll blend technical project management with deep cloud infrastructure expertise, building secure, scalable, and efficient environments for deploying data and AI-driven applications.
You ll work across cross-functional teams ranging from engineering and data science to compliance and IT operations to ensure infrastructure aligns with both technical goals and security standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical planning and execution of AI/ML and data infrastructure projects in AWS.
Design and implement scalable, secure, and compliant cloud infrastructure, with a focus on automation and reliability.
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to deploy and manage AI/ML workloads.
Manage and optimize AWS environments, with a strong understanding of cost management and performance tuning.
Ensure infrastructure and deployment pipelines align with SOC 2 compliance and other security best practices.
Guide junior engineers and IT staff in infrastructure practices and DevOps workflows.
Maintain detailed documentation and ensure clear communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering).
4+ years of technical project management experience in IT or cloud infrastructure environments.
At least 1 year of hands-on experience with AI/ML or data projects.
Background in MSP (Managed Services Provider) or IT infrastructure environments.
Strong experience deploying and managing systems on AWS.
AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) strongly preferred.
Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, data platforms, and modern cloud-native architectures.
Solid understanding of SOC 2 compliance, access control, and infrastructure security best practices.
Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly to various audiences.
Preferred Tools & Technologies
AWS Services (EC2, S3, Lambda, EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)
Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline)
Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with ML platforms such as SageMaker, MLflow, or Vertex AI
