Position: AI Enablement Engineer / Platform Architect
Location: NCDOT Century Center, Building B, 1020 Birch Ridge Drive, Raleigh, NC 27610
Type: Hybrid (Local to Triangle, NC up to 3 days onsite per week)
About the Role:
NCDIT-T Web Systems is seeking an experienced AI Enablement Engineer / Platform Architect with expertise in Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, and AI integration into enterprise applications. This role bridges infrastructure engineering and AI enablement empowering development teams to embed AI into applications while ensuring scalable, secure, and policy-compliant Azure implementations.
The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and skilled in building enterprise-grade AI platforms, guiding teams on AI adoption, and enforcing governance in a large public-sector environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement Azure OpenAI and Copilot Studio solutions for internal and public-facing applications.
Guide development teams on AI integration strategies, including prompt engineering, API integration, and data flows.
Architect and scale AI platforms for high-concurrency, low-latency workloads with peak load planning and autoscaling.
Build secure, scalable Azure environments using Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep/Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to ensure observability, governance, and compliance across AI workloads.
Mentor and advise development teams on responsible AI adoption and best practices.
Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and enforcement of cloud governance policies.
Required Skills & Experience:
2+ years guiding application teams on AI integration strategies.
Hands-on experience integrating Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, and AI into enterprise applications (security configuration included).
1+ year experience scaling AI workloads.
2+ years supporting workload migration, modernization, or re-platforming in Azure (including legacy integration).
2+ years designing reusable infrastructure with Bicep and building automated pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar).
Preferred Skills:
Strong background in enterprise AI platform enablement.
Development experience in modern programming languages (Python, C#, etc.).
Familiarity with cloud governance and security in public sector environments.
