AI Engineer

Fedtec is seeking skilled AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions that solve real-world business problems. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on technical expertise, experience leading end-to-end AI initiatives, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Location: Remote

Clearance Required: IRS clearance (preferred)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI/ML solutions, from data ingestion and model training to production deployment and monitoring.Lead and contribute to AI/ML projects, providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.Build and optimize deep learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Develop and deploy NLP and LLM-based solutions, including fine-tuning and inference pipelines.
• Implement and maintain MLOps workflows using tools like MLflow, Docker, and cloud platforms.
• Deploy models to production using services such as AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, or custom APIs (FastAPI, TorchServe).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into effective AI-driven solutions.
• Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve model performance in production environments.

Required Qualifications

• 3 5+ years of experience in software engineering and/or machine learning engineering.
• Proven experience leading end-to-end AI/ML projects and mentoring junior team members.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Solid knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines.
• Practical experience with MLOps, including model versioning, deployment, and monitoring.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong critical-thinking skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications

• Experience working with generative AI, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and modern LLM architectures.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Domain expertise in finance, healthcare, or recommendation systems.
• Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.

Security Clearance

• IRS MBI clearance preferred (or the ability to obtain one).
