AML Analyst - Temp
The AML Analyst is responsible for monitoring suspicious activities and transactions utilizing a surveillance system and internal payment system. The Analyst is responsible for reviewing the AML and OFAC/Sanction alerts, conducting research and business inquiry, and organizing and maintaining supporting documentation. The Analyst may be asked to assist with Know Your Customer ("KYC") tasks depending on business needs.
Due to payment processing times, the AML Analyst work hours are 9am - 6pm, Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze system-generated AML alerts from the Firm's transaction monitoring system, investigate account transactions for potentially suspicious activity (e.g., penny stock trading, layered money movements), and identify and escalate transactions or customers that may pose a risk to the Firm.
- Draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in accordance with FinCEN guidelines and collaborate with management throughout the review and approval process prior to submission.
- Maintain detailed documentation of investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Collect and examine supporting documents to assist in identifying unusual transaction patterns.
- Independently conduct research, gather data and record evidence from the Firm's internal systems, the internet and commercial databases.
- Assist with other tasks (e.g., watchlist screening, OFAC/Sanction transaction alerts, PEP, NN alerts) as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 2-3 years of experience in reviewing customer transactions for potentially suspicious activity and performing AML related investigations using an automated AML monitoring software.
- Knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the USA PATRIOT Act, and FinCEN/SAR requirements.
- Securities background experience within Private Wealth Management, including brokerage and investment advisory accounts, is required
Skills
- Excellent research skills, including online research tools (LexisNexis and/or WorldCheck is a plus).
- Strong writing, analytical, decision making/problem solving and communication skills.
- Able to multitask and complete tasks timely.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Actimize Essentials experience is preferred.
