Position Title: AVP/VP of Utilities Market Sales (Power Transformers)
Location: Roanoke, VA, USA

Position Summary:
The AVP/VP of Utilities Market Sales will lead and manage a results-driven team, including an Assistant Director, Market Manager, Sales Engineers, and Market Representatives. This role focuses on driving business growth by developing and executing sales strategies targeted at utility customers, selling power transformers and related products. The ideal candidate will excel at identifying and capturing new business opportunities, while strengthening relationships with existing utility clients to drive revenue and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Ownership: Take full ownership of the utilities market sales division, with a focus on delivering sustainable growth, increasing revenue, and maintaining a high standard of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate the Assistant Director, Market Manager, Sales Engineers, and Market Representatives to meet and exceed sales targets. Foster a collaborative and customer-focused environment.
  • Sales Strategy and Execution: Develop and implement sales strategies to drive new customer acquisition within the utilities sector. Build and maintain strong relationships with key utility companies, cooperatives, and municipal customers.
  • Customer Retention: Maintain and expand long-term relationships with existing utility clients. Implement strategies to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty, including regular feedback and proactive solutions to meet their evolving needs.
  • Market Analysis and Positioning: Monitor industry trends, policy changes, and competitor activities within the utilities sector. Adapt sales strategies to maximize opportunities and address potential challenges.
  • Performance Tracking: Set, monitor, and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team to ensure sales objectives are met or exceeded. Analyze sales forecasts and make data-driven adjustments as necessary.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including marketing, product development, and engineering, to align product offerings with customer needs and deliver tailored solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (Master s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in sales or business development within the utilities or energy sector, preferably selling power transformers or related products.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales growth and leading high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing utility-focused sales accounts and developing long-term client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of utility market dynamics, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex market dynamics and develop effective growth strategies.
