Position Overview

The Florida Department of Education (FL DOE) Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to support financial operations and compliance for state and federal student financial aid programs. This role involves reconciling funds, auditing invoices, conducting compliance reviews, and maintaining accurate financial records.

The ideal candidate will be organized, proficient in Microsoft Office, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a professional office environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Vouch deposits and disbursements of state and federal student financial aid/loan programs.

  • Perform weekly and monthly fund reconciliations.

  • Audit and process invoices accurately.

  • Conduct compliance reviews of nonpublic post-secondary institutions.

  • Prepare and update OSFA procedures and training manuals.

  • Maintain accurate financial and administrative records.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (Bachelor s preferred).

  • 1 2 years of professional business office experience.

  • Basic accounting knowledge.

  • Proficiency in (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).

  • Experience with fund reconciliations, invoice processing, and compliance reviews.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
