Job Description
Title: Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - Systems/Industry 4.0
Location: Chattanooga, TN
Job Type: Fulltime
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) will support Senior leadership s strategic goals related to profitability and growth. Activities will include identification and execution of Value Analysis/Value Engineering opportunities to drive cost reduction and quality improvement of products. The AME will support General Managers at each site in the identification, planning and execution of operational projects that support annual initiatives stemming from the Senior Leadership Teams strategic plan.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Assess product designs for opportunities in cost reduction through design for manufacturability, alternate component sourcing, component standardization, and material optimization.
- Assist with the should cost analysis of legacy and new product providing input to product modularization and standardization.
- Assist site Manufacturing Engineers in establishing bests practices in Item Structure (BOM) and Work Definition (Routing) format, content, creation, and maintenance in Oracle.
- Assist with serving as group digital and software expert regarding Oracle, Industry 4.0 software, shop floor user interface, Product Data Management, and CAD software.
- Assist in management of the IS Capex process contributing to CAR process, PMO support, facilities standardization, controls hardware standardization, layout control, and best ME practices.
- Work directly with management to provide Senior Leadership Team with input to overall IS process capabilities, equipment standardization, product rationalization, product design for manufacturability, and other broader IS opportunities.
- Contribute to the facilitation of the 3-year planning with emphasis on IS product, process, and capacity rationalization.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- Bachelor s degree in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering or related filed required.
- 7-10 years in manufacturing engineering with preference toward experience in fabrication and assembly in supporting multiple facilities and product lines.
- Knowledge of multiple manufacturing processes: metal-cutting/forming, assembly, welding, fabrication, paint, tooling, or electrical assembly/routing/integration.
- In depth knowledge in BOMs and routings and affecting labor costs.
- Knowledge of LEAN, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methods used in manufacturing processes required.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Inventor a plus.
- Must be able to collaborate and facilitate cross functional teams to influence and manage change in a heavy manufacturing, multi-shift work environment
- Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements
