Job Details

Job Title: Programmer Advanced
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Remote

Scope of the Project

This role will provide production system support, backfill coverage, and may involve working on smaller, short-term projects. The position requires collaboration with customers, development staff, operations teams, and QA staff to ensure seamless delivery and support.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Medicaid Services MMIS and MEDS teams to implement coding changes in COBOL and ADS programs using IDMS Network or IDMS Relational databases, guided by technical and design specifications.

  • Debug, unit test, and perform integration testing of code changes.

  • Support QA staff during Quality Assurance, User Acceptance Testing, and external testing cycles by applying required code modifications.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

  • Work collaboratively with internal staff and contracted team members.

  • Perform on-call duties on a rotational basis.

Required Skills

  • Mainframe technologies:

    • 5+ years of experience with Mainframe

    • 5+ years of experience with MVS COBOL

    • 5+ years of experience with JCL

    • 5+ years of experience with IDMS databases

    • 2+ years of experience with CA-ADS

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong written and oral communication

    • Adaptability and flexibility

    • Self-motivation and time management

    • Analytical thinking and problem-solving

    • Ability to work effectively under pressure

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Changeman (version control)

  • Experience with SAS and FILE-AID

  • Medicaid (MMIS) or insurance-related claims programming experience

Required Education

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in computer system development and modification
