Role: Routing and Switching Engineer
Location: Onsite Plano, TX (Local only)
Duration: 6+ Months with possibility of extension

Position Overview
The Routing and Switching Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures to ensure high performance, scalability, and security. The role requires 10+ years of experience in network engineering with strong expertise in Python scripting, WAN technologies, and Juniper Routing & Switching. The engineer will handle NOC-related incidents, lead network implementations, perform upgrades, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Incident Management & Support
  • Proficiently handle incidents on NOC and client networks.
  • Respond to user-reported network issues with immediate resolution or escalation.
  • Network Implementation & Configuration
  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
  • Implement and manage routing protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP) and VLANs.
  • Configure and manage network security technologies (VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS).
  • Perform seamless upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Deploy and manage wireless networks.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Monitor and optimize network performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and updates.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and accurate network inventory.
  • Provide on-call support for network incidents.
  • Security & Compliance
  • Implement network security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans and security assessments.
  • Manage network access control policies.
  • Work closely with system admins, security engineers, and application developers.
  • Provide clear updates to stakeholders and end-users.
  • Coordinate with vendors for issue resolution and hardware/software support.
  • Deliver training and technical support to users.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills:
  • 10+ years in network engineering with hands-on experience in Juniper Routing & Switching.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, and WAN technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Arista network devices.
  • Knowledge of network virtualization technologies.
  • Proficiency in Python (required), Perl, and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
