Job Title: Application Services Engineer
Job Location: Phoenix AZ 85034 (hybrid schedule after 4 weeks)
Onsite Requirements:
- Hands-on experience working with relational databases (MS SQL Server or Oracle), including writing and reading SQL queries
- Software development and scripting (e.g., Java, C#, Python, PowerShell, or similar)
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills
Job Description:
- This position is responsible for supporting dozens of critical applications for operations, safety and security, parking, ground transportation, construction, concessions, and other business-critical services. Some of the critical business system includes but not limited to: access control, parking revenue and control, event management, video surveillance, airport information systems (information displays, passenger paging, etc.).
- This position will primarily focus on supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting mission critical business applications and systems. The successful candidate will work directly with system users, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues, deploy new systems, implement upgrades, and ensure these systems remain reliable, secure, and responsive.
- Key skills required include those related to application development - ability to read, understand, decompile and compile code, create scripts, and modify configurations - to effectively diagnose and resolve issues. Strong problem-solving skills, technical documentation, persistence, and thoroughness are critical to be successful in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day operational support and maintenance for airport applications, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application incidents, bugs, and performance issues.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to diagnose problems and implement solutions.
- Perform application deployment, upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in line with IT and security standards.
- Write and execute SQL queries for troubleshooting, reporting, and analysis.
- Apply development-related skills as needed:
- Review or interpret application code to aid in troubleshooting.
- Write and maintain scripts (e.g., Windows, PowerShell) to support automation or system tasks.
- Adjust configurations or system properties to meet operational or security needs.
- Document support activities, processes, and system configurations to ensure continuity and compliance.
- Maintain familiarity with security and compliance requirements (including PCI DSS and related standards).
- Deliver responsive and professional customer service to airport staff and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level applications (COTS or custom-built).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with relational databases (MS SQL Server or Oracle), including writing and reading SQL queries.
- 2+ years of experience with software development and scripting (e.g., Java, C#, Python, PowerShell, or similar).
- 3+ years of demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills with persistence and attention to detail.
- 3+ years of experience with IT processes for change management, incident tracking, and system upgrades.
- 3+ years of customer service orientation and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with vendors, end users, and cross-functional IT teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
- Ability to work in a hybrid telecommute position requiring in-office presence 3 days per week after completing 90 day in-office probation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting applications in aviation, transportation, or other mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with reporting platforms such as Microsoft SSRS.
- Decompiling or analyzing application code to assist in troubleshooting.
- Understanding of IT security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS).
- Experience with version control, DevOps, or cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Microsoft or equivalent technical certifications.
