Application and Cloud Architect
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid Onsite 3 days/week)
Employment Type: C2C Contract

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Application and Cloud Architect to provide architectural leadership across enterprise applications and public cloud (primarily AWS) solutions. This role will drive the design, development, and implementation of scalable cloud architectures while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and business strategies. The architect will collaborate with stakeholders across business and technology units, shaping the Application Architecture roadmap and guiding large-scale enterprise programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and enhancement of reference architecture patterns and cloud design guiding principles.
  • Align architecture patterns with business strategy and ensure consistent adoption across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, Technical Leads, and Engineering teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Shape the Application Architecture roadmap, applying expertise across technology, industry trends, and business needs.
  • Drive implementation of large-scale enterprise programs, ensuring architecture and program objectives remain aligned.
  • Manage and govern the architecture of large domains, ensuring compliance and integration across projects and initiatives.
Application Architect Responsibilities
  • Participate in the Architecture Review Board (ARB):
    • Approve cloud-focused project designs and validate solutions prior to ARB presentation.
    • Contribute to policies, procedures, and enterprise-wide standards.
  • Participate in the Enterprise Solution Review Board (ESRB):
    • Ensure solutions align with enterprise strategies and design standards.
    • Present collaborative solution designs and key decisions.
  • Develop strategies and guidelines across areas such as:
    • Application Development (Cloud and On-premises)
    • Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications implementation and upgrades
    • Serverless computing models, microservices, and SOA
    • Application data models and solution architecture reviews
    • Cloud DevOps, CI/CD, and containerization platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
    • Cloud Networking (VPC, subnets, transit gateways, firewalls)
    • Cloud Storage (relational, NoSQL, and object storage)
    • Cloud Security (IAM, identity federation, policy enforcement)
    • Infrastructure automation (CloudFormation, Terraform, IaC)
  • Provide scalable, high-performing, highly available, and disaster recovery-ready architecture solutions for applications built in Java, .NET, Python, JavaScript, and more.
  • Assist in vendor and product selection for cloud and enterprise technology solutions.
  • Create or validate cloud components for solutions designed by other architects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 12 15 years of IT experience with a focus on enterprise architecture and cloud platforms.
  • Proven expertise in AWS cloud services, serverless design, and microservices architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
  • Ability to design resilient, scalable, and compliant enterprise solutions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate across enterprise teams.
