What You'll Do

Are you an experienced technologist passionate about leveraging advanced legal technology to drive efficiency and impact in litigation support? As a Senior Application Engineer I, you will play a critical role within our Litigation Practice Technology team, configuring and optimizing cutting-edge solutions that power our litigation practice. You'll partner with e-discovery vendors, internal technology teams, and key stakeholders to ensure our applications deliver maximum value-supporting attorneys and clients with seamless, innovative solutions.

Advanced Solution Configuration - Expertly configure and optimize legal technology platforms to meet complex litigation requirements.
Integration Leadership - Lead data integrations across cloud and on-premises environments into Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms.
Vendor Partnership & Guidance - Build strong vendor relationships and provide direction to ensure alignment with firm standards and best practices.
Senior Technical Support - Deliver Level 3 support and resolve escalated Level 2 issues, ensuring uninterrupted application performance.
System Enhancements - Oversee upgrades, conversions, and enhancements to align with evolving business needs.
Governance & Compliance - Uphold strict security, governance, and compliance standards across all applications.
Documentation & Standards - Develop detailed documentation for configurations, troubleshooting, and integration methods.
Subject Matter Expertise - Act as the primary expert for litigation practice technology projects and initiatives.
Operational Leadership - Provide ongoing operational support, including participation in shared on-call rotations.

What You'll Bring

Education - Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience - 8+ years in advanced application support, configuration, or innovation-driven technology roles.
Technical Expertise - Proficiency with e-discovery platforms (Rel Server, RelOne, Reveal Cloud, BrainSpace), emerging AI technologies, automation tools, and integration methods (API, data integration, ETL).
Programming & Systems Knowledge - Skilled in Microsoft SQL Studio, Linux, REST API, and PowerShell scripting.
Leadership & Problem-Solving - Strong judgment, communication, and organizational skills; able to prioritize competing demands and mentor others.
Collaboration & Agility - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while building positive working relationships across technical and legal teams.

Compensation

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. Chicago: $145,000 - $162,500
