Job description
The Assembly Mechanic III is responsible for producing prototypes and the organizations most complex components. They serve as the Subject Matter Expert and primary personnel to establish manufacturing process post First Article or Prototype. Train other assembly mechanics. Responsible for Bonding and Fabrication of Complex furniture. Provide input into business decisions operational or sourcing. Drive continuous improvement activity within the work center and identify new equipment to improve operational efficiency. Support development of work center operating standards in alignment to company and regulatory requirements
Senior Assembly Mechanic Responsibilities:
Ability to delegate tasks and problem solve in absence of shop lead
Partners with engineering, ME, planning to develop and execute part prototype design
Build and Bond test articles, complex furniture and interior major assemblies
Lead completion of post FAI customer pickups
Subject Matter Expert in multiple Boeing and Airbus Process Specifications
Subject Matter Expert in all processes within potting and bonding work center (Fill and fair, install insert and edge pot)
Subject Matter Expert in furniture bonding and assembly
Fabricate jigs and fixtures for accurate and repeatable execution of critical fit requirements for components.
Pre-fit and bond, vacuum bond interior components of varying combinations of material type
Forming and bonding of aluminum trim extrusions and sheets, honeycomb panel and other materials for completion of the sub-assemblies, parts or structures.
Subject Matter Expert in interior component assembly, custom fabrication of parts, applying complex dcor per finish requirements
Performs complex repairs on components as required by the customer
Mastery of all shop equipment drill motors, pneumatic tools, band saws, drill presses, various tool grinders, Rivet gun and bucking bar, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner
Subject Matter Expert in use of Chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints, liquid nitrogen and special finishes
Establish work center standard operating procedures
Support make/buy decision in partnership with operations manager and planning
Lead continuous improvement activity
Ability to consume electrical and structural part drawings
Train and mentor other entry to mid-level assembly mechanic shop personnel
Other duties as assigned

Candidate skills & requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Shall possess, at a minimum, a High School diploma or GED
5+ years' experience in the consuming electrical and structural aerospaceequivalent part drawings
5+ years interpreting, authoring and executing assembly and component test requirements
High level of mechanical and electrical aptitude and knowledge of aerospace or other equivalent industry
