Job Title: Automation / Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer
Location: Hugoton, Kansas

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Automation / E&I Engineer to design, implement, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems, as well as automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial instrumentation in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems for industrial equipment and processes.
- Develop and troubleshoot automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for electrical and control system failures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize process control and automation strategies.
- Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for E&I assets.
- Support commissioning and startup of new equipment and automation projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation including wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and control logic.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in industrial E&I and automation engineering.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial sensors, actuators, VFDs, and control loops.
- Familiarity with NEC, ISA, and other relevant standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety.
- Project management and budgeting experience.
- Ability to train and mentor technicians and junior engineers.
