Azure Data Platform Engineering Tech Lead
Location: Redmond, WA (Hybrid work out of Capgemini or Microsoft office 2 days a week)
Duration: 12+ months
Rate: DOE
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategic planning, execution, governance, and adoption of data platforms.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives between Data Platform and Data Operations to enhance metadata management, automate access workflows, and support scalable data operations using Microsoft Fabric, Purview, and Azure ecosystems.
- Provide technical leadership on data governance, cataloging, and compliance initiatives with Microsoft Purview.
- Define roadmap for Platform Engineering and Operations teams, Lead intake, triage, and delivery of platform capability requests, including onboarding, automation, and access provisioning.
- Create a presentation to launch the capability, bring awareness, and lead Discover & Learn sessions.
- AI & Automation Integration - Lead the projects of developing Gen AI agents for the platform, Operations, and Engineering excellence
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, operations, and governance teams to align strategy, execution, and reporting
- Prepare and present strategic decks, walking decks, and roadmap summaries for leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, product owners, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, offshore teams ensuring adherence to engineering best practices.
Skills
- Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD) concepts.
- Proficiency in C#, Python, and Scala, with hands-on experience in data interchange formats (JSON, YAML).
- Strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (Data Governance, Catalog Management).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a continuous learning mindset.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with database management systems (Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Database, and traditional RDBMS).
- Familiarity with the Azure ecosystem: Azure Event Grid/Hubs, Azure Apps/Functions, Azure Stream Analytics.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure Synapse & Data Factory (pipeline orchestration, notebook management, deployment workflows).
- Strong proficiency in Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Solid understanding of CI/CD and DevOps processes.
- Knowledge of Data Classification & Glossary Management, and Backup & Recovery Planning.
- Understanding of Power BI for reporting and visualization.
- Strong collaboration, documentation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in SharePoint and Wiki management.
- Experience using Microsoft Teams & Loop components for syncs, sprint reviews, and stakeholder communication.
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and sprint planning execution.
